Jaguar Jonze is taking on mental health through music and visual art; bringing awareness to the different inner struggles people face every day. Through her music, she is able to tackle on different issues and give her audience a full, immersive experience.

Tomorrow, Jaguar Jonze will be releasing the official music video for her Nettwerk debut single “Beijing Baby.”Jaguar Jonze is one of three creative projects:Jaguar Jonze (Music), Spectator Jonze (Visual Art) and Dusky Jonze (Photography). The visual art project is based on mental health as Deena interviews each subject on what they’re willing to share with the intention of breaking the stigma around mental health. Similarly, the photo project also does so but it leans more towards masculinity, femininity, insecurities and taboos around the body- mainly nude shots taken in the individuals’ safe space.

The project started off with Deena just shooting male photographers and flipping the lens onto them as they break down the structures of toxic masculinity, but it’s kind of evolved since then.  In the past, she had been a super guarded, but recently found herself becoming more of a mental health advocate and slowly, but surely talking about her own struggles and experiences.  Best put in her own words…
“Everything I do stems from the need for dialogue – Jaguar being an internal dialogue with my subconscious, Spectator being an external dialogue with others on mental health and the mind and Dusky being a dialogue with the body.”
