Don’t say his name!
The new teaser and poster for the new “Candyman” has been released. Written by Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and Nia DaCosta, and directed by DaCosta, the film will be a direct sequel to the 1992 film, also titled “Candyman,” with Tony Todd returning as the titular character.
While the exact plot has been kept under wraps, the film is set in the now gentrified Chicago neighborhood where the legend of the Candyman was said to have originated. Based on a short story by Clive Barker, the legend of the Candyman is about the son of a slave who was murdered for engaging in interracial relations. Saying his name five times in a mirror would conjure up his vengeful ghost, spelling deadly trouble for our characters.

We’ve all heard his name — and probably even played the game in school — but we most likely don’t know what horror DaCosta has cooked up for us, and we can’t wait.
