Grammy Award winning Boy George and the Culture Club joined forces with the Empress of Soul herself, Gladys Knight, on “Runaway Train” from Boy George and Culture Club’s first album in 20 years entitled LIFE.  The soulful jam continues the musical traditions of the two artists, drawing inspiration from classic Motown tracks from the mid 20th century, including Knight’s own “Midnight Train to Georgia.”  “Runaway Train” fits perfectly on the album described by The Odyssey as a collection of “big, catchy songs full of soul.”  The two icons came together in late 2018 to re-record the track, even performing the song at a sold out concert at LA’s legendary Greek Theater even after Knight’s 2009 UK Farewell Tour.

The song is yet another accomplishment of Boy George and the Culture Club, who’ve sold more than 150 million records globally with hits like “Karma Chameleon” and “Victims.”  In addition to their musical importance, the group made important strides in terms of social equality being the first multiracial group with an openly gay frontman. This resume established Boy George and the Culture Club as the perfect partner with the also incredibly accomplished, award winning Knight for “Runaway Train.”

Do yourself a favor and listen to “Runaway Train” on iTunes, Google Play, Apple Music, or Spotify.
