God bless the TV gods.
Showtime has confirmed development on “The Auteur,” a half-hour series starring “The Young Pope” himself Jude Law, and from Oscar winner Taika Waititi.
The horror-comedy is adapted from the graphic novel of the same name, described as a gonzo horror-comedy, a twisted romance and a glamorous, high wire act of biting satire. Yes, sign me right up.
Now in regards to the plot, I mean this is just TV gold. The series is about a film producer who, in an attempt to make a great horror movie after a massive bomb, traps his production on a backlot with a serial killer. Who do I talk to to see this masterpiece right now?
Law is of course currently in the HBO series, “The Young Pope,” where he stars as a young pope. And Waititi is of course off his mega Oscar win for writing Jojo Rabbit, the greatest satire of the 21st century. That’s not an opinion, but a fact.
Waititi has background in the worlds of horror and comedy; his 2014 horror-comedy “What We Do in the Shadows” was a critical success, spawning an FX series.
