Louis Vuitton Responds to COVID-19 by Producing Gowns and Masks for Paris and its Healthcare Workers

Legendary fashion brand, Louis Vuitton has started to produce gowns for Parisian healthcare workers fighting against the coronavirus (COVID-19) in France’s, ‘City of Light’.

This marks the second attempt by the French fashion and luxury retail company to slow the progression of the coronavirus in France.

The company at first started designing non surgical masks for individuals and families who were of high risk, and needed such items imminently. But since then (and rather quickly might I add), the company has decided to kick things up a notch.

In support of a recent movement led by the Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) to curve the spread of COVID-19, Louis Vuitton transformed it’s rue du Pont Neuf headquarters into a factory that will produce gowns for six hospitals within the movement.

The hospitals who are currently operating within the AP-HP and will be the recipients of the gowns are: Université Paris-Saclay– Hôpital Antoine-Béclère in Clamart, Hôpital Bicêtre in le Kremlin-Bicêtre, Hôpital Paul-Brousse in Villejuif, Hôpital Ambroise-Paré in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hôpital Raymond-Poincaré in Garches, and Hôpital Sainte-Périne in Paris’ 16th arrondissement.

As of now, twenty volunteer pattern cutters have started to produce the gowns from the rue du Pont Neuf headquarter in Paris; with that number increasing next week thanks to more volunteers who will be cutting from home.
