A ‘Hamilton’ movie is coming, just you wait! The tony-award winning musical will hit theatres in 2021 and will feature the original cast.
Disney will present the film, after purchasing the rights to make it for $75 million dollars. Fans are excited, since if anyone knows how to make a movie… it’s Disney.
Lin Manuel Miranda shared his excitement about the news saying, “I’m so proud of what Tommy Kail (director) has been able to capture in this filmed version of ‘Hamilton’ — a live theatrical experience that feels just as immediate in your local movie theater. We’re excited to partner with Disney to bring the original Broadway company of ‘Hamilton’ to the largest audience possible.”
Miranda had also recently announced that his first musical, ‘In the Heights’ would also be getting a film adaptation. The ‘Hamilton’ film will differ from the ‘In the Heights’ adaptation as the film will be a ‘live-action’ version of ‘Hamilton’ performed at The Richard Rodgers Theatre.
‘Hamilton’ will be coming to a theatre near you on October 15, 2021.
