Ermenegildo Zegna, a leading global luxury menswear brand, founded in Italy in 1910, joined the Fashion Pact earlier this year in August. Company representatives that are involved in the Fashion Pact met for the first time in Paris on October 24th. The Fashion Pact currently has a total of 56 signatories after a recent increase added 24 more to the coalition. There are currently about 250 brands involved.
The Fashion Pact is a global coalition of companies in the fashion and textile industry as well as their suppliers and distributors, whose goal is to address environmental issues. The three key areas the coalition focuses on is stopping global warming, restoring biodiversity, and protecting the oceans.
Gildo Zegna, current CEO of Ermenegildo Zegna, says “The Fashion Pact is a remarkable step forward aiming to proactively act for a sustainable world. The first meeting has been finally held in Paris, demonstrating that if we join our forces we can reach the goals, pursuing all together tangible actions towards the wellbeing of our planet. As Zegna it has been quite natural to embrace this challenge that perfectly matches with our vision where respect and care of environment and community have always been fundamental values.” Companies involved plan to report their progress in September of 2020.
The Fashion Pact is sure to make big steps in addressing the current environmental crisis we face with the support of Ermenegildo Zerna and other influential brands such as Adidas, Chanel, Puma, Ralph Lauren, and more.
