Australian singer/songrwriter Alex the Astronaut has shared a new single, accompanied by a music video. The single, “I Think You’re Great,” is an ode to friendship and checking in with one another from time to time.
The music video, shot in Melbourne, shows Alex playing a waitress, struggling to make ends meet while news footage of the brush fires play on the cafe’s televisions. The tune has a slacker rock vibe, which perfectly complements the singer’s laid back attitude.
Alex, originally from Sydney, moved to New York on a soccer scholarship. While there, she immersed herself in the music and started injecting folk into modern day pop. From demoing songs in her New York dormitory to commanding shows (she’s due to play at this year’s SXSW), Alex the Astronaut has proven herself to be the saving grace of rock music today.
