I have said this before many times, but HBO Max is shaping up to be — if not already — the most successful streaming service yet. Streaming wars? It’s over. It’s been over since HBO Max announced they were developing the “Gossip Girl” reboot. With their launch date rapidly approaching (May 27th), they just keep adding quality content to their roster.
They recently just acquired global rights for the feature comedy film, “An American Pickle,” which stars Seth Rogen in a dual role. HBO Max took the rights from Sony, who underwent a drastic change in their release schedule (only three films remain on their schedule for 2020).
An adaptation of a series of fiction in “The New Yorker,” “Pickle” follows an immigrant pickle factory worker (Rogen) who is accidentally preserved for 100 years. He wakes up in modern-day Brooklyn and finds his last living descendant (also Rogen) whom he can’t seem to connect with.
The comedy’s premiere date is still TBD.
