James Gunn’s 2025 Superman reboot takes flight with unexpected whimsy and earnest charm. Here, the Man of Steel isn’t brooding, he’s buoyant, hopeful, and refreshingly goofy. David Corenswet brings a warm, approachable Clark Kent, less stone-faced savior, more ingrained-in-our-world everyman. Think charm, not cold reserve.

No origin story overload, Gunn skips straight to the hero in action. A bruising defeat at the hands of an armored villain sets Superman on a humbling, relatable arc. He’s tested, vulnerable, and yes, sometimes conflicted—making his emotional journey feel much more modern. Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) plays the antiheroous tech mogul perfectly, wielding misinformation like a weapon. Political echoes, immigration, authoritarianism, run through the story but never weigh it down.

Gunn also injects classic comic-book joy: robot butlers in the Fortress, cameos from Hawkgirl and Justice Gang, and Krypto the Super-Dog stealing hearts (and scenes). It’s colorful, kooky, and at times chaotically fun, though some CGI feels patchy and the narrative occasionally overcrowded. But the core beat, Superman’s soaring idealism, his relationship with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), and his heartfelt heroism, stick.

This is not a grim reboot, it’s an optimistic blockbuster that wants the audience to cheer, laugh, and maybe even shed a tear. Yes, some might call it “corny,” but in a genre dominated by dark reboots, Superman dares to be unabashedly bright.

So we ask you, fans: did this new Superman lift you up or leave you longing for grit? Does Corenswet charm you, or do you miss Cavill’s intensity? And crucially, how did Krypto land with you? Tell us: does this Superman soar or just hover in the 2025 sky?
