My summer has been one of the busiest, but best summers of my life! I wrote a lot of music, I got to travel, I performed live and I worked on the second season of my YouTube series, “Total Eclipse.” I also spent a lot of time with friends, created a makeup line and joined the cast of “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors”!
I saw that you were in Cabo recently, how was your trip?
My trip was so much fun! It was the first break I have had in a while. I got to bring one of my closest friends from home. We went snorkeling, paddle boarding and jet skiing!
You have been performing a lot this summer, what do you like about being on the road?
I love getting to travel to new places and seeing how many people support me. It is very heartwarming.
What are some of your likes and dislikes with touring?
Dislikes: I guess it would be having to wake up early for any promo or soundchecks. Tour bus bathrooms are not the greatest either!
Likes: I love the feeling of having a road family!
It was just released that you will be on “Dancing With The Stars: Juniors” this fall. How have you prepared for the show? What do you look forward to the most?
I am looking forward to learning ballroom dance. I am also nervous about it! It’s a whole new style for me. It will be a challenge. I also am excited to meet the other contestants. I haven’t really prepared for the show. I am just going to go for it!
You just launched your make up collection, Love, Kenzie. What made you want to create a makeup line? Have you always loved makeup?
I have always loved makeup! I thought it would be really awesome to create a makeup line that is personal to me, but appeals to everyone! The colors and names all have a special meaning to me. I was involved in the whole creative process. It was so much fun.
In May you released your book “Kenzie’s Rules for Life: How to Be Happy, Healthy, and Dance to Your Own Beat “ – just a couple of months ago. How was it to write your own book?
It was very challenging, but I thought it was a really fun experience. I enjoyed getting the chance to give readers an inside look at my life. I never thought I would be writing a book at 13 years old, so to be given the opportunity was amazing!
What inspired you to write your own book?
I watched my sister work on her book and I thought that it looked really fun! It made me want to tell my own story.
You really had a lot going on this summer, how do you spend your free time?
Most of the time I try to relax. I love to hang out with friends and I like to binge watch Netflix!
With fashion week all over the world upon us, we have to ask, what are some of your favorite brands at the moment?
I like to shop at Brandy Melville or Urban Outfitters. I love Addidas. My favorite high end designer is Gucci!
How would you describe your personal style?
It changes every day. I guess I would describe it as “sometimes I try, sometimes I don’t”!
You have millions of followers on Instagram, Youtube, and Twitter. Which social media outlet is your favorite for everyday use and to communicate with your fans?
Snapchat is one of my favorites – I think it’s a great way to show your everyday life.
What is the next move in your career that you’re excited about?
I just released my latest single “Wonderful” that Sia and Jesse Shatkin wrote, which makes the song incredibly special to me. I am releasing more music this fall which I’m excited about, and hopefully more acting as well!
